Denny’s, one of America's largest franchised full-service restaurant chains, is thrilled to announce that our franchise partner Marpor Corporation celebrated its 25th anniversary in Puerto Rico. Together with Denny's, the Marpor Corporation was the first to debut the 24-hour dining concept in Puerto Rico. Today, this valued partner operates 12 Denny's restaurant locations on the island and will open its newest restaurant in Aguadilla next year.

Since 2011, America's Diner has donated more than $1.4 million total to Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry® campaign, which is helping to feed millions of children nationwide. Denny's, the world's largest full-service family dining chain, is thrilled to announce the opening of our first South American restaurant! Denny's partner, the Musiet Group, opened its new location in Santiago, Chile, marking only the beginning of a big international goal. The Musiet Group is preparing to open nine additional Denny's locations in Chile over the next 15 years, leading the way for Denny's to succeed throughout South America.

"Our expansion into South America is an important milestone for Denny's global ambitions," said John Miller, Denny's President and CEO. "We're excited to bring the "America's Diner" experience to our new guests in Chile."

To celebrate the upcoming second Hobbit movie, The Desolation of Smaug (to be released on December 13), Middle Earth is returning to Denny's! In partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures, we're bringing back our popular Hobbit-inspired menus, updated with new Hobbit- friendly food, including Middle Earth pancakes, Grand Slams, and milkshakes. Denny's is also giving Hobbit fans the opportunity to win a trip for two to the film's world premiere screening. As America's Diner, Denny's is committed to helping kids get access to healthy, attainable meals.

For the third straight year, Denny's is teaming up with Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign, a national movement aimed at ending childhood hunger by connecting kids with healthy food where they live, learn and play. Now through Oct. 31, more than 1,200 Denny's nationwide will sell coupons in support of No Kid Hungry's efforts to help the more than 16 million American children struggling with hunger. For a $3 donation that helps provide 30 meals for hungry children, guests will receive $9 worth of coupons redeemable at participating Denny's restaurants.

"A healthy breakfast each morning has been positively linked to kids' academic, health and economic futures. Denny's remains committed to No Kid Hungry and in the organization's efforts to increase school breakfast participation as part of its strategy to end childhood hunger nationwide," said Denny's CEO John Miller.

In addition to the in-store fundraising drive, Denny's is partnering with America's Egg Farmers to further its efforts in providing breakfast to hungry children. For every "Build Your Own Omelette" purchased Sept. 9 through Sept.15, America's Egg Farmers will donate one egg on behalf of Denny's guests to a No Kid Hungry partner.

This March, during the Multi-Unit Franchisee Conference at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Denny's franchisees, friends and franchise development staff celebrated Denny's 60th anniversary as "America's Diner". It was a birthday party to remember, complete with a delicious cake and a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday". But our recent celebrations didn't stop there...



Denny's is thrilled to announce that the first wedding performed at our new Downtown Las Vegas restaurant went off without a hitch! The new "Neonpolis" location on Fremont St. opened this April, and is the first to feature an on-site wedding chapel, appropriately open 24 hours a day.

After Steven Keller and Nancy Levandowski, the happy couple chosen for the inaugural wedding, exchanged vows in front of family and friends, the whole crowd enjoyed a full reception dinner, where we introduced another Denny's first, the Pancake Puppie® wedding cake. Guests loved the restaurant's full-service bar, and captured memorable moments in the interactive photo booth, which can upload photos directly to Facebook. They even raised a toast with Grand Slamosa cocktails (an exclusive mimosa-style cocktail at the Denny's "Neonpolis" location), proving that America's Diner and holy matrimony are a match made in Vegas heaven.

Available this month, the Baconalia! menu has returned due to popular demand. Featuring 12 bacon-infused creations to satisfy both sweet and salty cravings, Denny's new limited time Baconlai! menu is tastier than ever, proving once and for all that bacon really does make it better.

2013 marks Denny's 60th Anniversary and to start the year off America's Diner is offering guests more value and variety than ever before. In January, the restaurant chain unveiled new coffee blends and introduced a new, limited-time "Complete Skillet Meals" menu, 14 additions to the already extensive core menu and a revamped $2,$4,$6,$8 Value Menu™.

After two years of consumer testing and product trials, Denny's has completed a full overhaul of its coffee system at each of the restaurant chain's 1,680 locations. Tomorrow, February 14th, all participating Denny's restaurants nationwide will provide a free cup of coffee per customer from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. What's better than starting your Valentine's Day on us?

Denny's is pleased to announce plans for a one-of-a-kind flagship diner in Downtown Las Vegas. Centered in the revitalized Neonopolis Shopping Complex, Denny's third diner near the famous Las Vegas Strip will be the first of its 24-hour restaurants to feature an on-site wedding chapel. In addition to providing a range of wedding packages, the chapel will also offer a wedding cake made from Denny's Pancake Puppies.

"The wedding scene is such a part of Vegas," noted Denny's CMO, Frances Allen, "and who doesn't want a wedding cake made out of pancakes?"

The new 6,400 square foot diner will also boast several other unique features including a full bar, as well as an interactive photo-booth complete with Vegas-themed props.

The new flagship diner will be part of an exciting new phase in the life of Downtown Las Vegas. As Denny's CEO, John Miller, explained, "We already have two wonderful diners on the Strip; there was no better place to bring a unique Denny's than to Fremont Street, with all the history and current revitalization going on there." He also noted that, "it is the ideal location for a one-of-a-kind Denny's restaurant, as both the city and the diner operate on a 24-hour schedule." The new Denny's diner and wedding chapel are expected to open by the end of the year.

Location Marks 10th Country/U.S. Territory for Denny's Expansion

Denny's officially opened its first restaurant in the Dominican Republic as part of an exclusive development agreement with Grupo Nahas. Located in the Food Court of the Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo, the new restaurant represents Denny's first airport location worldwide.

Leonardo Nahas, Grupo Nahas General Director, said, "We are proud to bring Denny's to the Dominican Republic. It's an honor to represent one of the largest and most successful brands in the world, with our first-class service, quality products and friendly staff."

Denny's has reported results for our first quarter ended March 28, 2012, and we're proud to share some of the good news.

Our system-wide same-store sales grew 2.4%, with franchised units up 2.7% and company-owned units up 0.8%. This is the fourth consecutive quarter that both franchise and company same-store sales have been positive.

"During the first quarter, we achieved the highest quarterly system-wide same-store sales increase in almost five years despite the persistently challenging economic environment. Denny's franchisees opened six new units in the first quarter of this year, including two international units in Puerto Rico and Canada.

On Thursday, March 29th, the top 24 collegiate hoops slam-dunkers came together in New Orleans, home of the 2012 Final Four, to compete in the Denny's Slam Dunk Competition. This is Denny's 2nd year sponsoring the always-popular, slam dunk contest.

New this year was the inclusion of the 2012 'Dark Horse Dunker,' an under-the-radar player who was voted in via Facebook to compete against the D-I field. James Justice, from Martin Methodist College, was voted in by the fans as the 2012 Dark Horse Dunker. The 5'-10" guard from Wichita, Kansas not only represented the smaller, non-D-I schools in New Orleans, he ended up winning the Denny's Slam Dunk Competition in a spectacular display of slam dunk mastery. He beat out Auburn's Kenny Gabriel, Miami's DeQuan Jones and Clemson's Bryan Narcisse in the semifinals of the event. The winning dunk from the undersized Justice was a between-the-legs, left-handed slam popularized by NBA dunk veteran Vince Carter.

Denny's used the high-profile event to kick-start awareness for the "Build Your Own Pancakes" menu, available now in Denny's restaurants nationwide.

Known for being open to giving consumers the choice and variety they want, Denny's is extending that mantra to a diner menu favorite: pancakes! Inventive eaters who want to build their own pancake dish have the choice between a short stack, served with two fluffy pancakes, and a tall stack, served with three. Both options come with two eggs cooked to order, two bacon strips or two sausage links and a choice of either hash browns, seasoned red-skinned potatoes or grits. Diners also have the ability to choose their own batter, ingredient mix-ins and toppings from a wide variety of options. Denny's recently unveiled a new set of incentives for franchisees supported by the launch of a $100 Million loan program to spur Denny's domestic unit growth.

The restaurant chain recently ranked #1 for Family Restaurants by Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise 500, picked Pinnacle Commercial Capital to manage the program. Pinnacle is partnering with BancAlliance, a bank-controlled cooperative managed by Alliance Partners which helps member banks diversify loan portfolios across a broader range of asset opportunities, and other participating lenders to provide up to $100M to new and existing franchisees that open new restaurants in Denny's under-penetrated markets in the U.S.

The expansion effort comes as other U.S. dining chains retrench their domestic operations in response to tepid consumer demand and challenging commodity prices. Other restaurants have devoted more resources to expansion abroad.

Denny's new and emerging market incentive program will instead seek to accelerate expansion in some U.S. cities by reducing fees for franchisees that develop four stores over a reasonable period of time.

"We are positioned to accelerate our domestic development and seize valuable market share for Denny's at a time when other brands are scaling back on their growth plans," said Stephen Dunn, Denny's Senior Vice President, Global Development.

Denny's is promoting its "Taste of the Holidays" limited-time menu with a tie-in to the holiday movie "Arthur Christmas" from Sony Pictures.

Officials from the family-dining chain said the promotional menu would offer the kind of indulgent offerings Denny's has introduced successfully over the years, such as Red Velvet Pancake Puppies and a Holiday Turkey Melt, as well as movie-themed kids' items like Arthur's Christmas Cookie Pancakes and Arthur's Milk & Cookies Shake.

"It was truly a case of '1 + 1 = 3,'" John Dillon, vice president of marketing for Denny's, said. "We've come back with new holiday flavors, but we really had this opportunity with Sony to take it to the next level with a very family-focused holiday movie. We could create some fun new products around that partnership that appeal to kids and kids at heart."

"We believe that crave-able items for all dayparts, with the 'Arthur Christmas' holiday movie promotion, will help Denny's stand out as America's favorite diner this holiday season," Miller said.

The movie also will figure prominently in social-media and in-store tie-ins to Denny's seasonal menu. Denny's will host a 24-hour toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots; will deploy an in-store game called Letters to Arthur, where kids can win a free kids' meal; and will run several activities on Facebook, allowing guests to create custom holiday e-cards or stoke a virtual yule log.

"We want guests to feel the holidays from the moment they sit at the table and interact with our products," Dillon said, "and even afterward we want them to visit our website to keep that going as long as possible. Then they'll hopefully come back to Denny's."
